SUMMARY:MSECA Meeting on Site Investigation and Remediation Design
DESCRIPTION:John will be at MSECA’s next event\, May 4th at the Indiana Government Center in Indianapolis. \nJoin John in his discussion and talk titled\, \nApplying Advanced Site Characterization Technologies for Optimized Remediation Design\nPresentation Description:\nRecently published Interstate Technology Regulatory Council (ITRC) guidance has summarized the interlinked topics of implementing advanced site characterization technologies and optimizing in-situ remediation strategies. Both topics are interwoven in the guidance and should be in practice. Most remediation designs are constructed using initial design characterization data\, when in fact\, additional data needs to be acquired through another phase of work\, known as remediation design characterization (RDC). Initial site characterization is completed for the purpose of simply defining the two-dimensional lateral extent of the problem relative to regulations. An RDC collects additional data to characterize all of the related contamination in three dimensions\, as well as geology\, hydrostratigraphy\, geochemistry\, biology\, and any other parameters needed to select\, and apply\, specific types of treatments. \nThe presentation will pull from ITRC guidance and highlight the use of now common high resolution site characterization (HRSC) tool and other field measurements that can help conduct a thorough RDC. Then\, also from the guidance\, demonstrate the process of RDC\, Design\, and Implementation (the Design Wheel) and show how it is optimized using an iterative “staircase” of bench testing\, pilot testing\, and full scale treatment.

SUMMARY:VGS Guest Webinar: Presentation by Bill Newman\, Founder and President of RNAS
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe webinar provides an overview of anaerobic bioremediation methods for chlorinated solvents\, nitroaromatics and heavy metals based on more than 20 years of field experience. Topics include a review of the properties of electron donors\, buffers\, and bioaugmentation cultures\, and how they affect injection and distribution in the subsurface. Injection methods for the effective delivery of corrections in contaminated groundwater\, including direct injection in source areas and the creation of biobarriers to treat large\, diluted plumes\, will be discussed. Remedial design characterization\, selecting optimal injection methods\, and bioremediation corrections\, is the key to success. \nBill Newman is the founder and president of RNAS Remediation Products. Bill has over 37 years of experience in bioremediation and has been formulating manufacturing and selling bioremediation products for over twenty years. RNAS Remediation Products has been manufacturing and selling Newman Zone EVO since 2002 and they now offers a full suite of bioremediation products. In addition to remediation products RNAS provides free technical support. We look forward to finding solutions for your project.
